1. Define the social injustice that is being addressed within this article.

Belinda Van Krevel social disgrace, if you were her best friend you would either be in hiding, gaoled or dead. If winning Australia’s most horrific murder or being awarded the most unjust person of the year, she has won with flying colours. She has managed to betray her community, show hatred to her family, and manipulate her boyfriend at the time to kill her father. Although Belinda Van Krevel is now a free woman she has shown the most disturbing quality of a human being. Planning and then witnessing the murder of her loyal and loving father, while her two year old daughter was in the next room wondering why a person was screaming, wondering why a person was swearing and why she could hearing the sound of continual violent thrusting of a knife.

The definition of social injustice relates to the perceived unfairness or injustice of a society in its divisions of rewards and burdens. The definition of social injustice from “To Know Worship and Love” is when you are going against the beliefs of the church and acting in such a way you are committing heinous deeds in an unjust manner. Belinda Van Krevel has demonstrated the utter most sign of injustice to the Australian society by the unfair act of murder.

2. Identify the individuals and/or groups who are affected by this injustice and describe how they are affected.

Being apart of the general public we are always being made aware of horrible events that occur within society. From natural disasters to sexual assault, from racism to murder like the frightening frenzy stabbing from the article. We are being made aware of unjust events that do happen. But hearing the words ‘your best friend or family member Belinda Van Krevek has planned and witnessed the killing of Jack Van Krevel her father.’ It is one of the most dreaded fearful words anyone would want to hear. Closing your eyes you would feel the horror, the pettiness, the coldness of now your faint friend and dreaded murderer Belinda Van Krevel. Being mother is one of the many joys in life, but hearing about this dreaded act would make her wonder were she went wrong. The sister and brother both would be horrified. The worst is for her daughter to grow up and learn her mother is a disgrace. While these are only the effects of the individuals. The world, the country, the community would have to face the thought of another human being who has shown the least bit of justice within their actions. Hearing it on the news, reading the story in articles, searching it up on the net. The public are constantly reminded of how one woman can dramatically change the perspective on our country and show the unjust manner Belinda Van Krevel has displayed. Babies are brought into this world with equal rights and duties. Mothers teach these qualities with moral support so they will grow up in respecting the land, the people and the law. Everyone has a right to freedom of movement but when that movement is demonstrated in a horrific way we as a society have to constantly question the injustice of a small person’s big action.

3. Describe the cause of this injustice?

Hoping and praying that the good of people and their just actions are affected on society in a good way. While Belinda Van Krevel is hoping and praying that her father will be killed in a violent stabbing frenzy.

A just Society should consider the common good and the good of the human being first, give all an equal share in the common good, care for the less fortunate members of society and not be governed by fear. While the opposite to an unjust society is when bad things happen to worthy people, helping yourself before others, showing no mercy, not respecting the common good of all people, and tragic chilling murders.

Belinda Van Krevel killed her father because there was belief that he molested all his children at very young age. Abusing them and showing no love towards them whenever they achieved their goals in life.

Although this article is based upon Belinda Van Krevel and her suburbia murder she is not the only inhuman person on this earth. There are hundreds and thousands of unjustly people out there who commit heinous acts to fulfill there disturbed lives. Walking down the street you may have passed a rapist, a murderer, a molester, a pedophile or a high class criminal. These people are creating an unsafe environment for every day citizens to live in. An unsafe environment were people are constantly hearing unjust acts from the media. This injustice usually takes place in society from:

a-Mental Problems: There may be many reasons that a person might have for murdering people. Usually, the killer suffers from psychotic or mental illnesses. At other times, the killer may have a rough background.

b-Childhood Problems:Perhaps the reasons for committing such horrible crimes date back to problems during childhood, or certain events that happened that brought hatred to their hearts and evil to their brains.

c-Bad Parenting: It has been statistically proven that most murderers have a cruel past in which the parents were divorced, faced drug problems, abused their children or left the family, which may lead to psychological problems in the child’s mind.

d-Self-esteem: Other reasons may be lack of self-esteem and love for life. A numerous amount of murderers are suffering from depression and anxiety.

4. State the teaching of the Catholic Church on this issue. Use specific example from Scripture and the Catechism of the Catholic Church to justify

Unfortunately murder still exists in the world today. Although we all wish it would cease to exist, we are constantly reminded of how ones actions are found highly unjust in the general public and also within the Catholic Church. As Christians were are taught in the bible to love one another as we love ourselves. We should never show hatred or commit sins. Within the bible passage below it shows what humans should never do under any circumstance. “Exodus 20:13 Thou shalt not kill” Although it is only four words, they are very powerful words. Thus the bible is teaching us never to commit the sin of killing another human being. The Catholic Church believes that every person has the rite to be given a even chance in society where they are shown respect, love and justice. Murdering someone defeats the purpose of the quote above.

5. With reference to your response in question 4, propose TWO possible solutions to this injustice within Australian society today.

“Exodus 20:13 Thou shalt not kill.” In Australian Society there are horrible things taking place. But to overcome these unjust acts below are two possible solutions which help to cease these horrific acts of sin.

Parents: From a very young age children should be taught morals and values in life. They should be educated to know that murder, sexual assault, abuse and theft are horrific problems in life and you should never be apart of these problems and carry them out. Giving your kids a chance to be responsible and rewarding them for there behaviours. Most cases for murder are through bad parenting, so making sure you are raising your child right could save lives. “Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

Punishment: Severe punishment is always helpful. If a person was murdered and there was no punishment for the criminal, they will just keep on murdering. But being harsh and showing how inconsiderate they have been. Make them aware there will be consequences. They need to be aware how serious this act of crime is, is the up most important. But if there is punishment there should always be forgiveness if they re merciful. Being deterrent society, so you deter other people from doing the same thing. A Retribution society, giving them another chance in society. ‘Job 31:11 For this is an heinous crime; yea, it is an iniquity to be punished by the judges.’
